UK lawmakers have voted to ban children under 16 from using social media.

The government says they want to wait and see what people think before making it a law.

In Australia, a similar ban already started on December 10, 2025.

Many people in the UK also think this is a good idea, but some groups worry that a ban might not keep children safe because they still need to know about social media.

The vote was 261 in favor and 150 against.

Now, the idea will go to another part of the government to decide if it becomes a law.
