Karnataka Opposition Seeks Winter Session Extension
The leader of the opposition in Karnataka, R Ashoka, has asked the Speaker, U T Khader, to extend the winter session of the state legislature by one more week.
The session, which started on December 8 and was supposed to end on December 19, has been shortened by two days due to adjournments for mourning the deaths of two MLAs.
Ashoka wants more time to discuss important issues about the state and pass key Bills.
The session is being held in Belagavi, a city that has been hosting these sessions every year since 2006.
Belagavi is near Maharashtra, which claims it as part of its territory, but Karnataka asserts it as its own.
