Haryana Expands Benefits for Extension Lecturers
The Haryana government changed a law that protects part‑time teachers in state colleges.
The new rules let more teachers qualify for the law, because the deadline for applying was moved to July 2025.
Teachers now get a clear rule that they are protected after one year of work, not just by calendar year.
They will earn a monthly salary of about 57,700 rupees, which will be updated twice a year.
After a year of service, teachers can also get yearly raises.
The law also gives extra help to teachers or their families if they need it.
These changes make it easier for teachers to know their rights and earn a fair wage.
Haryana amended the Extension Lecturers and Guest Lecturers (Security of Service) Amendment Act, 2026 to broaden benefits.
The Governor gave assent on July 23, 2026, and the law became effective on July 29, 2026.
Eligibility cut‑off was extended from June 30, 2023, to July 21, 2025, allowing more lecturers to qualify.
Service continuity will now be based on completing one year of contractual service instead of a calendar year.
Eligible lecturers will receive a consolidated monthly salary of ₹57,700, revised twice yearly, with annual increments after the first year.
