Court Issues Notice to Meta on Khaira's AI Video Suit
A politician named Sukhpal Singh Khaira says someone made a fake video of him using artificial intelligence.
Fake videos made by AI can look real, even though what they show never actually happened.
Mr. Khaira says the video embarrasses him, hurts his feelings and damages his reputation.
He decided to go to court to ask for help.
He wants the fake video to be taken down from the internet.
He also wants the companies that run Facebook and Instagram, which are together called Meta, to stop showing it.
A judge in the city of Chandigarh has now sent a notice to Meta asking them to respond in court.
The next date for the matter is August 12.
Mr. Khaira also wants the court to protect his so-called personality rights and to give him money for the harm he says he suffered.
The Chandigarh District court issued notices to Meta Platforms Inc. (Facebook and Instagram) on a civil suit filed by Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
