Indian Firms to Manage Kudankulam Reactors' Control Systems
Two Indian companies, ECIL and TEMA India, have been given the job to set up and manage important systems in two new nuclear reactors in Kudankulam.
These systems help monitor and control the reactors to keep them safe and working well.
This is the first time a private company is working with ECIL on systems for reactors designed outside India.
The project will take about 42 months to complete and costs around Rs 1,600 crore.
ECIL usually works on Indian-made reactors, but this time they are helping with reactors made by Russia.
This is a big step towards making India's nuclear technology more self-reliant.
ECIL and TEMA India win contract for control and instrumentation systems at Kudankulam 5 and 6 reactors.
Project cost is Rs 1,600 crore and will take 42 months to complete.
Control and instrumentation systems monitor and ensure safe operation of the reactors.
ECIL, a public sector company, usually works on indigenous reactors but is now partnering with a private company for foreign-made reactors.
This project marks a significant step towards greater indigenisation of India's nuclear ecosystem.
