Indian Markets Open Higher as IT Shares Surge

Indian share markets started Friday higher.

The Sensex and Nifty both rose at the opening.

Technology shares climbed the most, with the Nifty IT index gaining more than 3 per cent.

The article linked the strong IT buying to a US government announcement about the Permanent Labor Certification Program.

Other sectors, including food, media, healthcare, real estate, and private banks, also edged higher.

Investors were still concerned about high oil prices and US bond yields.

Foreign investors had sold many Indian shares, while Indian institutions bought shares to provide some support.

Analysts said markets could remain unsettled, although some long-term investors may see opportunities in high-quality stocks.
