POWERGRID Wins 150 MW Battery Storage Project in Andhra Pradesh
POWERGRID, a big company that manages electricity in India, won a project to build a huge battery system in Andhra Pradesh.
This battery system, called BESS, can store 300 MWh of energy and provide 150 MW of power.
It will help make the electricity grid more stable and reliable.
The project is part of a bigger plan to add 1,000 MW of such battery systems in Andhra Pradesh.
This will help manage electricity better during peak times and support the use of renewable energy like solar and wind power.
POWERGRID already manages a lot of electricity lines and substations and has a very reliable system with over 99.84% availability.
POWERGRID wins 150 MW / 300 MWh BESS project in Kalikiri, Andhra Pradesh.
Project awarded under Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.
Part of Andhra Pradesh's initiative to deploy 1,000 MW / 2,000 MWh of BESS capacity.
Project aims to enhance grid stability and support peak load management.
POWERGRID operates 287 substations and over 1,81,894 ckm of transmission lines.
