Assam Police BMI Drive Shows 2.06% Obesity Rate, Down from Previous Years
Imagine the Assam Police taking their weight and height to see if they are healthy.
They call this a BMI test.
This year, they found that a little over 2 out of every 100 police officers were in the 'obese' group.
This is good news because it means fewer officers are in that group compared to last year!
The police chief said that being healthy helps officers do their job better and keeps their families safe too.
They started this test a few years ago to help everyone stay in shape.
Over 2.06% of Assam Police personnel screened in the annual BMI drive are in the obese category.
This year's obesity rate shows a steady drop from previous years.
A total of 73,317 personnel were screened in the third annual BMI drive.
The BMI test was introduced in 2023 to promote a fitter police force.
Assam Police DGP Harmeet Singh highlighted that fitness benefits both individual officers and the force as a whole.
