NHA penalizes 2,842 hospitals for Ayushman Bharat fraud
The National Health Authority (NHA) in India has taken strong action against hospitals that were cheating the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme.
They found 2,842 hospitals doing bad things and punished them by taking away their ability to treat patients under the scheme, suspending some, and making them pay fines.
The NHA used special computer programs to catch these hospitals before they could cheat the system.
They also stopped over ₹678 crore from being paid out for fake claims.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme helps poor families get free healthcare, and the NHA is working hard to make sure the money goes to the right people.
Experts say this is good because it saves money for real patients, but they also want the NHA to make sure hospitals get paid on time so they can keep helping people.
NHA penalized 2,842 hospitals for fraudulent practices under Ayushman Bharat.
Penalties included de-empanelment of 2,003 hospitals, suspension of 839 facilities, and fines totaling ₹114.06 crore.
NHA prevented the release of ₹678.47 crore in bogus claims through its anti-fraud efforts.
Auto-adjudication engine and system-generated validation alerts were deployed to curb misuse.
Ayushman Bharat scheme has authorized over 11.93 crore hospital admissions and spent ₹1.78 trillion since its inception.
