Mahindra Overtakes MG as India’s Second-Largest EV Maker

Mahindra became India’s second-biggest electric-car maker in the first half of 2026.

It sold more electric cars than JSW MG Motor India.

Mahindra’s biggest success was the XEV 9S, a large electric car with seven seats.

Families who need extra space helped make the XEV 9S popular.

The MG Windsor was still the best-selling individual electric model.

Tata Motors remained the overall market leader.

MG plans to launch the Hector Tomahawk EV on August 26.

Mahindra also introduced an updated BE 6 and is developing another model called the BE 7.

Maruti Suzuki is becoming a stronger competitor with its eVitara.
