Haryana CM addresses farmer loans in assembly
The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, talked in the state assembly about farmers who have not paid back their loans.
He said that more than 25 lakh farmers owe a total of Rs 60,816 crore.
The districts of Hisar and Sirsa have the most farmers with unpaid loans.
The government is helping farmers by offering schemes where they can pay back only the principal amount and get a waiver on the interest.
This has helped many farmers, and the scheme will continue until March 2026.
The government is also giving money to farmers who lost crops due to bad weather.
This is to help them pay back their loans more easily.
Over 25.67 lakh farmers in Haryana have outstanding agricultural loans totaling Rs 60,816 crore.
Hisar and Sirsa districts have the highest number of farmers with pending loan amounts.
The government offers One Time Settlement (OTS) schemes to waive interest for defaulting farmers.
Under the OTS schemes, 3,08,302 farmers benefited in 2019 and 17,847 farmers in 2022.
The government has released Rs 116 crore to compensate for Kharif 2025 crop damage.
