Teachers Seek Waiver of Rural Headquarters Residence Rule

Teachers Seek Waiver of Rural Headquarters Residence Rule

Rural teachers in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district are worried about a rule requiring them to live near their assigned schools.

More than 1,000 teachers were punished under this rule in two talukas.

Teachers’ groups met MP Sandipan Bhumre to ask for the rule to be removed.

Bhumre said the punishment was unfair.

He said roads and transport have improved since the rule was introduced decades ago.

He also said teachers were reaching school on time.

Bhumre discussed the issue with Minister of State Yogesh Kadam.

Kadam said a new system would help ensure punctual attendance and that the residence rule would soon be withdrawn.
