NKDA Revamps Parks to Prevent Dengue
The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) is making changes to parks to stop dengue, a disease spread by mosquitoes.
They are removing flower pots because water can collect in them and mosquitoes can lay eggs there.
Instead, they are planting flowers directly in the ground.
This is because there have been more dengue cases recently.
In 2023, there were 348 cases, which is a lot more than the 37 cases in 2022.
So far this year, there have been 95 cases.
The NKDA is also cleaning canals and putting fish in the water to help control mosquitoes.
They are doing this to keep people safe and healthy.
NKDA is removing flower tubs from New Town parks to prevent mosquito breeding.
Saplings are being planted directly in flower beds as a preventive measure against dengue.
Dengue cases in New Town have increased significantly, with 348 cases in 2023 compared to 37 in 2022.
NKDA is focusing on improving children's playing areas and gazebos ahead of winter.
Additional measures include cleaning canals, releasing guppy fish, and fumigation in residential areas.
