Chandigarh's GMSH-16 De-Addiction Centre to Reopen in January
A special place in Chandigarh that helps people stop using harmful substances was closed for five years.
It was turned into a place to care for people with Covid-19.
Now, the government is fixing it up and will open it again in January.
They are also hiring more doctors to help people there.
This is good news for people who need help with substance abuse.
The de-addiction centre at GMSH-16 will reopen in January after being closed for five years.
The centre was converted into a Covid-care facility during the pandemic and remained closed due to staff shortages.
Renovation of the 10-bed facility is currently underway.
GMSH-16 currently has two psychiatrists, with two more being hired for the centre.
The proposal to restart the facility has been delayed due to a lack of required manpower, including psychiatrists and clinical psychologists.
