India's Inflation Cools: Wholesale at 13-Month Low, Retail Falls
Imagine prices of things going up and down.
In India, the prices of many products and services went up less in April.
This is called inflation, and it slowed down.
The prices of things sold to big businesses (wholesale) and things bought by regular people (retail) both went up less.
This means things are getting a bit cheaper.
Especially, food like vegetables and cooking oil have become more affordable.
This might mean that people can buy more with the same amount of money.
India's wholesale inflation dropped to 0.85% in April 2025, the lowest in 13 months.
Retail inflation also decreased to 3.16% in April, the lowest since July 2019.
Falling prices in fuel & power, primary articles, and food drove down wholesale inflation.
Easing food prices, especially vegetables and pulses, contributed to lower retail inflation.
Manufacturing sector remained stable, showing continued strength with price increases.
