Pune Stray Dog Population Declines, But Bite Incidents Rise

Pune Stray Dog Population Declines, But Bite Incidents Rise

There are fewer stray dogs in Pune now than a few years ago.

This is because many dogs have been spayed or neutered, and given shots to prevent sickness.

However, even with fewer dogs, more people are getting bitten.

To keep track of the dogs, the city is starting to put tiny computer chips in them.

These chips help know which dogs are fixed and have had their shots.

The city also plans to build more places for dogs to stay.

The courts are involved and have made rules about which dogs can be released back on the streets, especially making sure aggressive dogs are not a danger.

The most important thing is keeping people, especially kids, safe, while also taking care of the animals.
