Andhra Pradesh Pledges Faster Compassionate Power-Sector Appointments

Andhra Pradesh Pledges Faster Compassionate Power-Sector Appointments

Andhra Pradesh has given jobs to 43 people whose family members working in the electricity department died while doing their jobs.

These jobs are called compassionate appointments because they help families who have lost an earning member.

Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said the government wants to provide these jobs quickly.

He said 445 such appointments had been made across the state’s electricity organizations so far.

Some appointments had been waiting for nearly three years.

The government has also moved about 7,000 energy assistants into the electricity department to help with staffing.

It is completing recruitment for 629 assistant engineers.

After that, it plans to consider filling lineman jobs with the chief minister’s approval.
