More Women in Their 40s Seek Help for Perimenopause Symptoms
Some women in their forties start to feel different in their bodies as they enter a phase called perimenopause, which happens before menopause.
During this time, their bodies make fewer hormones, and they might have irregular periods, hot feelings, trouble sleeping or mood changes.
In the past, many people thought these signs were just stress or getting older.
Now, more women are learning about perimenopause and asking doctors for help.
In the Indian state of Maharashtra, special menopause clinics checked more than 31,000 women in less than a month.
Doctors can give treatments like hormone replacement therapy, which helps many women feel better.
A 42-year-old woman in Navi Mumbai said that after treatment, her sleep, mood and energy improved.
Doctors also say eating well, exercising and managing stress are important parts of feeling better.
Growing awareness is prompting more women in their 40s to seek medical advice for perimenopause symptoms in India.
Maharashtra's 580 dedicated menopause clinics examined 31,288 women between January 14 and February 11, 2026, with 30,034 receiving treatment.
Perimenopause symptoms include irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, mood changes, anxiety, fatigue and difficulty concentrating.
Doctors say Hormone Replacement Therapy can reduce hot flashes and night sweats and improve sleep, mood, concentration and bone health for suitable candidates.
A 42-year-old Navi Mumbai marketing professional reported improvement in sleep, hot flashes, mood and energy after HRT and lifestyle changes.
