CBI Names 36 Accused in Tirupati Laddu Ghee Adulteration Case
The CBI has accused 36 people, including officials from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and dairy experts, of mixing fake ingredients like palm oil and chemicals into the ghee used to make the famous Tirupati laddus.
The laddus are special sweets given to devotees at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple.
The CBI found that the ghee sold to the temple was not real ghee but a mix of cheaper oils and chemicals.
This case started when the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said that animal fat was used in the laddus during the previous government's time.
Many people were upset by these allegations because the laddus are very important to Hindu devotees.
CBI SIT names 36 accused, including 9 TTD officials and 5 dairy experts, in the Tirupati laddu ghee adulteration case.
Original material sold as ghee to the temple was actually chemically processed palmolein oil and other ingredients.
Adulterated ghee was made by mixing palm oil, palm kernel oil, palmolein, and chemicals like beta carotene and acetic acid ester.
Chargesheet filed in the Nellore ACB court on January 24, 2026.
Allegations of using animal fat in Tirupati laddus sparked a political row and hurt the sentiments of Hindu devotees.
