Madhavan's Finland Education Post Sparks Homework Learning Debate

Madhavan's Finland Education Post Sparks Homework Learning Debate

Actor R Madhavan shared a post on Instagram that compares how children in Finland and India learn.

In Finland, children do not have regular homework and do not take big tests until they turn 16.

The post says Finnish children have more time for play, sleep, curiosity, and their own interests.

Many children in India, on the other hand, go to school all day, then come home to homework and tuition classes.

A psychologist named Rasshi Gurnani said too much homework for young children can cause stress and lost sleep without helping them learn better.

She explained that children learn best when they are genuinely interested and curious, not just trying to avoid mistakes.

She also said India should not copy Finland completely because the two countries are very different.

But she thinks India can still use good ideas from Finland, like less homework in early years and more freedom for teachers.

The main message is that children grow best when learning is balanced with sleep, play, hobbies, and family time.
