VHP Seeks Legal Action Against Suspended Legislator
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has written a letter to the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, asking for legal action against Humayun Kabir, a suspended legislator from the Trinamool Congress.
Kabir organized a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for a mosque named Babri Mosque in Beldanga.
The VHP believes this is a bad thing because it might hurt the feelings of Hindu people.
They want the government to look into the matter and take action against Kabir and his associates.
The mosque is supposed to be built like the one in Ayodhya, which was demolished in 1992.
The VHP thinks naming the mosque after Babur, a Mughal emperor, is not a good idea and is against the law.
VHP seeks legal action against Humayun Kabir for organizing a foundation stone laying ceremony for the Babri Mosque in Beldanga.
The ceremony was held on December 6, 2023, the anniversary of the Babri Mosque demolition in Ayodhya.
VHP cites Sections 196 and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which deal with promoting enmity and outraging religious feelings.
The proposed mosque is to be constructed in line with the original Babri Mosque in Ayodhya.
VHP alleges that naming the mosque after Babur is a malicious act likely to outrage Hindu religious beliefs.
