Indian Diaspora Raises Visa, Job, and Anti-India Content Concerns in China
A group of Indians living in China met with the Indian Embassy to talk about problems they were facing.
They said that Chinese social media sometimes shows mean messages about Indians, and that it is harder to get work visas.
They also said it is difficult for Indian spouses to find jobs in China.
The embassy said it knows about the bad messages and is working to stop them.
It will also make it easier for Chinese people to get visas to visit India, hold more cultural events, and help Indians with legal problems.
The embassy will hold regular meetings so people can speak directly to officials.
Indian community in China voiced worries about abusive social media content targeting Indians.
They cited a drop in work visas and difficulties for spouses seeking employment.
Embassy ambassador Doraiswami acknowledged the rise in negative content and said authorities were addressing it.
The embassy plans to simplify visa paperwork for Chinese citizens and launch more cultural events like Vasant Mela.
It will also create a legal assistance mechanism and hold regular Open House sessions to improve consular services.
