Indore-Budni Rail Line Project Achieves Major Tunnelling Milestone
A big project to build a new train line between Indore and Budni in Madhya Pradesh has made a significant progress.
The team working on the project has successfully dug the first 100 metres of a very long tunnel, called Tunnel-2, which is 8.6 kilometres long.
This is a big deal because the tunnel is being built through very weak and difficult rock conditions.
The project includes building not just this tunnel, but also other tunnels, bridges, and stations.
Once finished, the new train line will make travel faster and easier between Indore and other important cities in Madhya Pradesh, like Jabalpur and Nagpur.
The team used special methods and technology to overcome the challenges and ensure the work was done safely and quickly.
First 100 metres of Tunnel-2 in the Indore-Budni rail line project completed in two months by RVNL.
Tunnel-2 is 8.6 km long and passes through geotechnically challenging Rock Class-V strata.
The project includes 2 major tunnels, 80 major bridges, 99 minor bridges, 138 RUB, 5 ROB, 2 viaducts, and 18 new stations.
Once completed, the new rail line will bypass congested sections, reducing travel time and distance.
RVNL used advanced excavation methodologies and continuous geotechnical monitoring to overcome challenges.
