Hyderabad Elevated Corridors: Over 30% of Trees Face Felling
The city is making new roads in the sky, called elevated corridors, to help people get around easier.
To build these roads, some trees have to be moved.
The government is letting the builders cut down some trees, but they are also going to move a lot of them to new places so they can keep growing.
More than 30% of the trees are going to be cut down.
HMDA is building six-lane elevated corridors on NH 44 and SH 1.
Felling permission has been granted for 3,298 trees by the Tree Protection Committee.
Over 30% of trees along the corridors are marked for felling.
4,230 trees will be translocated to Nehru Zoological Park and Hakimpet Sports School.
A total of 10,593 trees were assessed on the corridor stretches.
