Kolkata Schools Close Early Due to Chief Minister's Rally
Imagine your city is having a big parade for the leader, the Chief Minister.
Because so many people will be there and roads will be busy, some schools decided it's best for kids to go home earlier than usual.
This way, they won't get stuck in traffic jams on their way home.
Other schools are still having their normal classes, but they might need to help students who can't get to school or have tests.
The police are planning to manage the traffic to keep things moving as much as possible, but it might still be a bit slow on some roads.
Several Kolkata schools announced early closures on Tuesday due to an anticipated traffic congestion caused by a rally.
The rally, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is scheduled to start at 2 PM from the Ambedkar statue on Red Road and end at Jorasanko Thakurbari.
Schools like La Martiniere, St James' School, Pratt Memorial, and Welland Gouldsmith will close around noon, with some starting dispersal as early as 10:30 AM.
The early dispersal aims to allow students to reach home before the rally causes significant traffic disruptions.
Some schools will maintain their regular schedule, adapting for students who have unit tests or face difficulties reaching school.
