Five-Year SIP Data Shows Indian Investors Are Staying Invested Longer

A SIP lets people invest a fixed amount in mutual funds regularly.

More Indian investors are now using SIPs as a long-term way to invest.

SIP assets nearly quadrupled between March 2021 and March 2026.

Monthly contributions also rose sharply during this period.

Fewer SIP investments were held for less than one year.

More than twice as many SIP assets were held for over five years in March 2026 than in March 2021.

Retail investors showed the biggest increase in SIP use.

Equity funds received most SIP money, although hybrid and passive funds also gained interest.

The data suggests that staying consistent may matter more than trying to predict short-term market movements.
