'Music Plus Action' Formula Powers Awarapan 2 Blockbuster Opening
Awarapan 2 is a new Hindi movie full of music and actions.
It stars Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, and people are already calling it a big hit.
Many years ago, in 2007, the first Awarapan movie did not make much money in theaters.
But people loved its songs so much that they kept watching it on television.
Now the second movie is making up for that.
Movie experts say that putting great songs and action together makes audiences happy.
They say this trick has worked since the 1990s, like with the movie Ziddi.
Other recent movies with sad or serious heroes and good music also did very well.
Movie makers think a third Awarapan movie might be announced soon.
So it looks like music plus action is a recipe that people really enjoy.
Awarapan 2, directed by Nitin Kakkar and starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, opened with a blockbuster response at the box office.
Rajasthan distributor Raj Bansal predicted the film would be the winner of the Independence Day weekend, citing the 'music plus action' formula.
The 2007 original Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, earned only about ₹12 crore worldwide but built a cult following through TV broadcasts and its soundtrack.
Industry veteran N R Pachisia said the formula is decades old, citing his 1997 film Ziddi with Sunny Deol as an early example of its success.
The trade expects producer Vishesh Bhatt to announce Awarapan 3 soon, given the sequel's strong start.
Recent hits featuring brooding heroes with strong soundtracks, such as Saiyaara (nearly ₹340 crore nett) and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat (about ₹80.83 crore nett), are cited as proof of the formula.
