Police Allegedly Misapplied Sections in Ram Temple Donation Case
A man named Kulshekhar Singh is the lawyer for people accused of stealing money from the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
He says the police used the wrong laws when they looked into the case.
The police used both theft and embezzlement laws at the same time and even added a life‑imprisonment rule, which he thinks is too harsh for first‑time offenders.
He also says the police treated the accused as if they were government workers, but the temple is not a government body.
The case started in June when a special team investigated and arrested eight people.
The police found about 14.25 lakh rupees in one of the accused’s hands.
The Supreme Court is still looking into the case and has asked for a new investigation team.
Meanwhile, the local development authority is checking a house construction notice for the wife of one of the accused.
Singh wants the court to fix the wrong laws so his clients might get bail.
Legal aid counsel Kulshekhar Singh claims Ayodhya police used incorrect BNS sections in the Ram temple donation embezzlement case.
Singh argues police combined theft and embezzlement provisions and imposed a life‑imprisonment clause, which he says is inappropriate for first‑time offenders.
He also disputes treating the accused as public servants, noting the Ram temple trust is not a public authority.
The case, involving eight accused individuals, was investigated by a special team, leading to arrests and a recovered Rs 14.25 lakh.
The Supreme Court has directed continued probing and a new SIT, while the Ayodhya Development Authority is reviewing a house‑construction notice for the accused’s wife.
