Deloitte Settles US DEI Practices Probe For $21.5 Million

Deloitte Settles US DEI Practices Probe For $21.5 Million

The US government said Deloitte used race and sex in some workplace decisions.

It said this happened while Deloitte was trying to reach private diversity goals.

The government also said some leaders’ evaluations and pay could be affected by progress toward those goals.

It argued that these practices conflicted with promises Deloitte made in federal contracts.

Deloitte denied doing anything wrong.

The company agreed to pay $21.5 million to end the dispute without a long court fight.

About $10 million will go to restitution, and $11.5 million will cover penalties and interest.

The settlement does not mean Deloitte admitted liability.
