Muthoot Finance Names New MD, CEO, Expands Gold Loan Products
Muthoot Finance, a big gold‑loan company in India, is changing its top bosses.
The current boss, George Alexander Muthoot, will stay on as a senior adviser while new leaders Alexander George and KR Bijimon take over.
The company grew a lot in the first quarter of the new financial year, with loans worth about ₹1.91 lakh crore.
The interest rates on gold loans fell a bit, but the company expects them to stay around 18%.
They also started new loan plans that let people borrow at different rates and for different lengths, following new rules from the Reserve Bank of India.
Muthoot Finance will appoint Alexander George as Managing Director and KR Bijimon as Chief Executive effective Oct 1 2026, with current MD George Alexander Muthoot becoming Executive Vice Chairman.
The transition is part of a long‑planned succession strategy to give younger leaders responsibility.
The company’s loan assets under management hit ₹1.91 lakh crore in Q1 FY27, up 43% YoY, with a 15% growth guidance for FY27.
Gold loan yields fell to 17.93% in Q1 FY27 after a 300‑basis‑point drop, but the firm expects a steady‑state yield of 18–18.5%.
Muthoot Finance has rolled out new LTV‑aligned gold loan products (3‑, 9‑, 12‑month terms and 85%, 80%, 75% LTV options) following RBI’s revised LTV norms.
