Nagaland Child Rights Panel Flags Gaps in Care Facilities

Nagaland Child Rights Panel Flags Gaps in Care Facilities

Nagaland’s child rights commission met with Governor Nand Kishore Yadav to discuss how children are protected.

The commission said some children do not have enough safe facilities or support.

This is especially difficult for children with mental health concerns, substance abuse problems or disabilities.

The commission checks whether child protection laws are being followed.

It also trains police, works with schools and communities, and inspects child care institutions.

Officials said the commission needs more staff, members and funding.

It plans to promote child-friendly rooms in courts and police stations.

Its goal is to make children safer and protect their rights across Nagaland.
