Tukaram Mundhe Warns Indians About Food Safety Risks

Tukaram Mundhe is Maharashtra’s food safety commissioner.

He says people should think carefully about what they eat and drink.

Food choices can affect a person’s health and body.

He warned people to avoid foods high in fat, sugar and salt, especially deep-fried items.

He said people should read labels instead of choosing food only because it is popular or has a famous brand.

The food safety rules are meant to apply to both small vendors and large hotels.

The FDA has issued improvement notices to more than 700 hotels.

Mundhe said he now rarely eats outside because he is concerned about food safety.
