Martin Short Earns Emmy Nods for 'OMITB' and Documentary
Martin Short is a very funny actor who makes people laugh.
Right now he is in London filming a new season of his TV show 'Only Murders in the Building.'
London is having a very hot summer, and Martin says the city is not used to it.
He recently got many nominations for Emmy awards, which are big prizes for TV shows.
He was nominated for his acting, for his show, and for hosting a game show called 'Match Game.'
There is also a new documentary about his life called 'Marty, Life Is Short,' made by his friend Lawrence Kasdan.
The documentary shows his childhood in Canada, his funny characters, and his family.
Martin has had sad times, like when his wife Nancy died, and he keeps going with a happy spirit.
He says he makes people laugh because he loves it, not because he wants strangers to admire him.
Martin Short is in London filming season 6 of Only Murders in the Building amid a UK heat wave, with a forecast high of 97°F (36°C).
Short earned Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Comedy Series as a producer, and Outstanding Host for Match Game.
His Netflix documentary 'Marty, Life Is Short,' directed by Lawrence Kasdan, received three Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing.
The documentary covers Short's upbringing in Hamilton, Ontario, his SCTV years, and personal tragedies including his wife Nancy Dolman's death in 2010 and his daughter Katherine's death earlier this year.
Short describes his career as '80 percent failure,' tongue-in-cheek, saying real failure is not liking the work you created.
Season 6 guest stars include Olivia Colman, David Tennant, Martin Freeman, and Jennifer Saunders.
