Nagaland Inaugurates Run-of-River Power Project
Imagine Nagaland needing more electricity.
They built a special power plant called the Ponglefo SHP.
This plant uses the flowing water from a river to make electricity, like a water-powered machine.
The plant is in a village and will make a lot of electricity each year.
The government and other groups helped pay for it.
The minister in charge said they want to use more of the state's natural resources for energy.
They also hope for international investment in the power sector.
Nagaland inaugurated the 1MW Ponglefo Small Hydro Electric Project (SHP).
The run-of-the-river project is located in Salomi village, Kiphire district.
It's designed to generate approximately 3.9 million units of electricity annually.
The project utilizes the Likimo river, a tributary of the Tizu river.
The project was funded jointly by the Union ministry, NEC, and state government.
