Volkswagen CEO Faces Pushback Over 50,000 Job Cuts Plan

Volkswagen CEO Faces Pushback Over 50,000 Job Cuts Plan

Volkswagen is a large car company that wants to reduce its costs.

Its CEO, Oliver Blume, says as many as 50,000 jobs might need to be cut.

He also wants to reduce the number of car models and how much the company produces.

Workers are worried that jobs and factories in Germany could disappear.

They have opposed the plan and reportedly booed the CEO at a meeting.

Labour representatives and the state of Lower Saxony have offered different plans for fixing the company.

Blume says the 50,000 figure is only a comparison used to show how much costs may need to fall.

He says closing factories would be the last and most expensive option.

Volkswagen's supervisory board is expected to consider the issue on September 4.
