Delhi High Court Seeks Decision on UGC-NET Fee Refund
The UGC-NET English examination was ordered to be held again.
Some candidates went to the Delhi High Court to challenge that decision.
They said the reasons and supporting information for the re-test had not been properly shared.
They also said the original examination results should be processed after reviewing answers and questions.
The court has not yet cancelled the re-test.
Instead, it issued notice to the authorities and told them to decide about refunding the original examination fee.
The candidates also asked to take the new examination without paying again.
The court’s direction concerns the refund decision, not a final ruling on all their requests.
The Delhi High Court directed the National Testing Agency and other respondents to decide whether candidates should receive refunds for the UGC-NET June 2026 English examination fee.
Justice Jasmeet Singh issued the direction while hearing a petition challenging the decision to conduct the English examination again.
The petitioners challenged the NTA’s August 16 public notice ordering the re-conduct of the examination.
They argued that the re-test decision lacked disclosed supporting material and may not have followed the UGC-NET Information Bulletin’s procedure.
The petitioners alternatively sought refunds and permission to take the re-test without paying another examination fee.
