How RF Sethna’s Gujarati Books Introduced Readers to Japan

How RF Sethna’s Gujarati Books Introduced Readers to Japan

In the early 1900s, many people in India wanted to learn about Japan.

The war between Japan and Russia made even more people curious.

But books about Japan were hard to find in Indian languages.

Gujarati writer RF Sethna decided to write some himself.

His books described Japan’s people, history, industries and military, and included pictures.

One book also tried to teach Japanese words and writing, though it had mistakes.

His books were not printed again, but they helped Gujarati readers discover more about Japan.

Later, other books about Japan appeared in Gujarati and other Indian languages.
