India Keeps Kartarpur Corridor Closed Amid Security Concerns
India and Pakistan signed a deal in 2019 that lets Sikh pilgrims visit a holy site in Pakistan called Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.
The deal was extended in 2024.
But after a terror attack in 2025, India stopped the corridor because it was too dangerous.
Sikh groups want it open again, but the government says the security situation is still bad.
So the corridor stays closed for now.
Indian government has received calls from Sikh groups for early reopening of the Kartarpur corridor.
The corridor was suspended on May 7, 2025 after the Pahalgam terror attack.
The 2019 India‑Pakistan agreement allows pilgrims to visit Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.
The agreement was extended for another five years in October 2024.
Security concerns force the government to keep the corridor suspended.
