SEBI Simplifies Securities Transfer for Legal Heirs
SEBI is making it easier to transfer stocks after someone passes away.
Sometimes, these transfers were wrongly taxed, causing problems.
To fix this, SEBI created a new code called 'TLH.'
This code helps companies report these transfers correctly so they are not taxed.
Companies like stockbrokers will use it when transferring stocks from a nominee (the person in charge) to the legal heirs (family).
This change aims to make the process smoother and prevent unnecessary tax issues.
SEBI simplified security transfers from nominees to legal heirs.
Incorrect taxation could occur during transfers.
Section 47(iii) of the Income Tax Act exempts these transfers.
The 'TLH' code will ensure correct reporting.
The code will be used by entities starting January 1, 2026.
