Mufti Alleges 3.55 Lakh Waqf Properties Missing Nationwide
Mehbooba Mufti, a former leader in Jammu and Kashmir, said that a lot of Waqf properties, which are special properties for Muslims, are missing all over India.
She shared some data that shows that in one year, many of these properties have disappeared, except in a few places like Maharashtra and Bihar where they have increased.
She is worried that this might be happening because of a lack of care and protection for these properties.
She thinks this is a big problem for Muslims in India.
Mehbooba Mufti alleges 3.55 lakh Waqf properties are missing nationwide.
Jammu and Kashmir alone has lost 7,240 Waqf properties according to the UMEED database.
Most states and union territories show a decrease in Waqf properties, except Maharashtra, Andaman & Nicobar, Delhi, Bihar, and Telangana.
Uttar Pradesh shows the maximum disappearance of Waqf properties, with 1,39,717 properties missing.
Mufti raises concerns about transparency and protection of Waqf assets.
