Trump's 50% Tariff to Hit $65 Billion in Indian Exports
The US is increasing tariffs on goods from India.
This means that some products imported from India will become more expensive in the US.
These tariffs, set by President Trump, are increasing to 50% and will impact billions of dollars worth of Indian goods.
Some goods are safe from these tariffs, while other industries, like textiles, could be heavily affected.
The US and India are talking about a trade deal, which could change the tariff rates.
President Trump's 50% tariff on India will affect $65 billion in US-bound merchandise exports.
The initial 25% tariff was manageable, but the doubling of duties presents greater challenges.
Textiles, gems, jewelry, and marine products are expected to be hit the hardest.
Around $30 billion of Indian exports, including pharmaceuticals and electronics, are currently exempt.
The higher 50% tariff is scheduled to take effect from August 27.
