India Launches Weapon and Crime Databases
India has launched two new databases: one for tracking lost, looted, or recovered firearms and another for organised crime networks.
These databases were created by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and launched by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The databases include detailed records of government-owned weapons and information on organised criminals, their methods, and past cases.
The goal is to help police and investigative agencies track the origin and movement of these weapons and criminals, which can be used in terror acts or violent crimes.
By centralising this information, authorities can better monitor and recover these weapons, making India safer.
The databases are part of a broader strategy to modernise law enforcement tools and improve coordination among different states and agencies.
Shah also praised the successful investigations into the Pahalgam terror attack and the Delhi blast, highlighting the importance of vigilance and technology in combating terrorism.
India launched its first-ever 'Lost, Looted and Recovered Firearm' database to track and recover lost, looted, or recovered firearms.
The database was prepared by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
It includes detailed records of government-owned weapons from state police forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
The database is accessible to authorised users from state police forces, paramilitary units, and law enforcement agencies nationwide.
The initiative aims to strengthen criminal and terror-related investigations by enabling agencies to trace the origin and movement of weapons.
