Trump Proposes $10 Billion Fund for Middle East Energy

Donald Trump has proposed a large fund to help rebuild energy systems in the Middle East.

The plan is called the Partnership for Allied Trust and Construction, or Pact.

The United States would provide $10 billion.

It would also ask eight countries in the region to contribute another $5 billion.

The money would help repair energy infrastructure damaged during the Iran war.

The plan aims to make the region less dependent on the Strait of Hormuz.

That waterway is used to move oil and gas.

It is not yet known whether the countries will agree to participate.

The timing of the plan is also uncertain.
