Vedanta Expands Lanjigarh Refinery to 5 MTPA
Vedanta Aluminium has made its Lanjigarh Refinery bigger and better.
It can now make 5 million tonnes of alumina every year, which is a lot!
This makes it the second-largest refinery in the world.
The refinery is very important for India because it helps the country make more of its own aluminium, which is used in many things like cars, buildings, and even airplanes.
The refinery also set a new record for production in November.
The people who run the refinery are very happy and proud of this achievement.
They say it helps India become more self-reliant and builds a strong aluminium industry in the country.
Vedanta Aluminium's Lanjigarh Refinery has expanded to a capacity of 5 MTPA, becoming the world's second-largest alumina refinery.
The expansion increases India's total alumina refining capacity to nearly 13 MTPA, making it the third-largest alumina producer globally.
The Lanjigarh refinery now accounts for about 38% of India's total alumina output, the largest single-location alumina refinery in the country.
In November, the refinery recorded its highest-ever monthly alumina production of 254 kilo tonnes, with an 8% increase over the previous month and a 68% year-on-year growth.
The achievement was supported by strong logistics, cost efficiency, and improved operational performance, including the lowest specific power consumption in the last 20 months.
