FSSAI Targets Food Giants Over Misleading Claims

India’s food regulator is checking whether companies give customers truthful information.

It says more than 150 notices were sent to businesses.

The notices involved advertisements, product claims and labels.

Big food and drink companies were among those named.

Online shops such as Amazon and Flipkart also received notices.

Some restaurants received notices, and five Domino’s licences were suspended.

One Amazon warehouse licence was cancelled for alleged violations.

Several companies said they were taking steps to fix the problems, according to the regulator.
