CII Pushes Green Economy for India's $5T Goal
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) wants India to become greener to reach its goal of a $5 trillion economy.
They say India needs to invest a lot of money in green projects, like renewable energy and recycling.
They also want to make it easier to get approvals for these projects.
The CII suggests creating a special place in GIFT City to get money for green projects and setting up a fund to help Indian companies show their green technology to the world.
They believe this will help India grow and be more competitive in the world.
CII urges the government to set up a dedicated Green Finance Institution (GFI) to mobilize large-scale, low-cost capital for India's green transition.
Proposed GFI to be domiciled in GIFT City, Gujarat, to leverage regulatory flexibility and attract foreign capital.
CII suggests a green tech expo fund to globalize India's green tech innovations and facilitate collaborations with global investors.
India needs an estimated $1 trillion in green investments over the next 10-15 years, cumulatively reaching nearly $10 trillion by 2070.
CII proposes mandatory recycling and urban-mining targets for lithium batteries and electronics, with fiscal incentives and fast-track clearances to boost domestic refining capacity.
