Pakistan Sought US Help During India's Operation Sindoor
India and Pakistan both tried to convince the US to support their sides during a military operation called Operation Sindoor.
Pakistan was worried that India's military actions were only paused and could resume.
They had lots of meetings with important people in the US government and media and spent a lot of money on these efforts.
India also hired a special company to help them talk to the US president and other officials.
The US president said he helped broker a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, but India said their military talks led to the ceasefire.
There's still some confusion about who really made the ceasefire happen and why the US president said he was involved.
Pakistan also made false claims that India had sought a ceasefire, but documents showed that it was actually Pakistan that asked for help.
Pakistan sought over 50 meetings with US officials and media outlets to halt India's Operation Sindoor and spent roughly $5 million annually on lobbying.
India hired a lobbying firm, SHW Partners LLC, led by a former Trump adviser, for about $1.8 million annually to manage access to top-tier Indian diplomats and influence the US administration.
The lobbying efforts were in response to a Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that killed 26 people on 22 April 2025.
India retaliated to the Pahalgam attack by destroying terror infrastructure inside Pakistan-controlled Kashmir on 7 May 2025, eliminating over 100 terrorists.
US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between India and Pakistan on 10 May 2025, but India has consistently denied that the US played a role in the ceasefire, attributing it to military commander-level talks.
