Maharashtra Minister Seeks Freeze on AIMIM's Kite Symbol
A minister in Maharashtra, Sanjay Shirsat, wants the Election Commission to stop the AIMIM party from using their kite symbol during the upcoming elections.
This is because the elections and the kite-flying festival Makar Sankranti are happening around the same time.
The minister thinks this could confuse voters.
However, an AIMIM leader, Imtiaz Jaleel, finds this request silly and says it's just a coincidence.
He also jokingly suggested that the minister should fly kites himself since it's a Hindu festival.
Jaleel also made a sarcastic remark about the minister deserving a top award for his demand.
Maharashtra Minister Sanjay Shirsat seeks a freeze on AIMIM's 'Kite' symbol due to coinciding civic polls and Makar Sankranti.
Shirsat plans to approach the Election Commission to press for his demand.
AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel dismisses the demand as 'laughable' and a mere coincidence.
Jaleel sarcastically suggests Shirsat should fly kites and be awarded the 'Bharat Ratna'.
Civic polls in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, are scheduled for January 15, with vote counting on January 16.
