Telangana Teachers Protest Over GO 25, Pay Commission, Pending DAs
Teachers in Telangana, a state in India, went outside their schools during lunch break to protest.
They are unhappy with some rules made by the government.
A group called the Upadhyaya Sanghala Porata Committee organized the protest.
Teachers say one rule, called GO 25, is very bad for small primary schools.
They want at least two teachers in every primary school.
They also want one teacher for each class when more than 50 students are in it.
Teachers want their pay to be updated starting from July 1, 2023.
They also want the government to give them six pending payments called DA instalments.
More protests are planned for August 12, 13, and 19.
Telangana teachers staged lunch-hour protests outside educational institutions in Hyderabad on Friday.
The protests were part of a phased agitation called by the Upadhyaya Sanghala Porata Committee.
The committee described GO 25 as a "death warrant" for primary schools and demanded its amendment.
Teachers demanded Pay Revision Commission implementation from July 1, 2023, and clearance of six pending DA instalments.
Next protests are scheduled at mandal headquarters on August 12-13, followed by district-level dharnas on August 19.
