Guwahati Refinery Supplies Smokeless Fuel to Indian Army
The Guwahati Refinery, which is part of the Indian Oil Corporation, made a special kind of fuel that doesn't produce smoke.
This fuel, called LSLA SKO, was given to the Indian Army for soldiers in very cold places.
The refinery made 19,000 metric tonnes of this fuel quickly for an operation called Operation Sindoor.
The fuel was sent to different places like Misamari, Siliguri, and Agra, and then to areas like Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Ladakh.
This fuel has very little sulfur and aromatics, making it better for the environment and the soldiers.
The refinery is also working on a new project to make more gasoline in the future.
Guwahati Refinery supplied 19,000 metric tonnes of smokeless LSLA SKO fuel to the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor.
The fuel was developed to keep soldiers warm in extreme cold conditions without emitting smoke.
The LSLA SKO has 1 ppm of sulfur and 2-3% aromatics, well below permissible limits.
The fuel was transported to Misamari, Siliguri, and Agra for further distribution to border areas including Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Ladakh.
Guwahati Refinery is constructing a Catalytic Reforming Unit (CRU) to become self-sufficient in gasoline production.
